The sales are boring blah blah blah

The sales are booooring this week. Perhaps Meijer will come out with a fantastic Super Saturday sale or something that will get me off my butt on the 4th. We are dogsitting this weekend and I did not previously connect that it was a holiday weekend and were watching two dogs, so my previous plans to run away have been trampled. So I have been looking for some quick day trips to get out of the ‘ville. So far I’m thinking a little Cincy trip including Hofbrauhaus, IKEA (because ummm it’s the most wonderful place on earth) and a Reds game? They have a deal this weekend, 4 tix for $40. They are way way up in the top tier, but when you’re paying for a toddler, $30-$40 tickets seem a little ridiculous. (By the way if you are up for spending $30 a ticket, check out the All-You-Can-Eat Seats , you end up sitting by the happiest of people – I mean isn’t EVERYONE happy when they can eat all the hot dogs, Coke, popcorn and peanuts they can gorge themselves with?)

I went through Wags on my lunch break today looking for some frees and came up empty handed. Supposedly there is a monthly deal with Listerine, but it’s not in the ad and the products weren’t marked well, so I passed. It will probably advertised in next Sunday’s paper. Supposedly I should have a Right Guard or Dri Idea $1 coupon, which would make the $2.99 deodorant and $2 RR free, but I couldn’t find it. Perhaps I already used it? I don’t know, but I was disappointed…it was nice to get out of the office though.

I think I’ve blabbed on enough. Do you have any 4th of July plans? Or any trips you’re taking? I might just live through you all…

CVS through 6/13

After receiving a $3 off $15 in my inbox last week, I decided I would stretch my CVS legs on Sunday. Wags has one pitiful free item this week, so I crossed my fingers looking through the CVS ad yesterday.

Free:
**Gillette Fusion $7.99 with $4 ECB, use $4 coupon from Sunday’s paper = free
**Bayer Contour Meter (tired of them yet?) $14.99 with $5 ECB, use the up to $30 off coupon = $5 overage

Other good deals (for which I used my $3/$15):
**Coke/Dasani 4 for $13 with $3 ECB = $2.25 each!
**Viva 6 pk paper towels $5.99 (love them) (I couldn’t find my coupons for Viva, but I'm sure there are some) = $1 a roll!
**Charmin 16 pk $9.99 with 2 ECB, use measly $.25 coupon = $.48 per roll (come on, this is the good TP!)
**Banana Boat Sun Care, prices start at $7.19, buy 2 with $7 ECB, use 2 $2 off coupons and they’ll be about $1.69 each!
**Dawn Detergent 2 for $2 with $1 ECB, use 2 $.25 coupons from Sunday’s paper (I had some $.50 from a mailer!) and get them for $.25 each!
**Kellogg’s Special K, Frosted Flakes, Mini Wheats, or Nutrigrain Bars BOGO at $3.59, use 2 $1 coupons from Sunday’s paper and get them for $.79 each!

It’s nice to have you back CVS.

K-Mart Doubles & Diapers

KMart has Super Doubles again this week. I am always tragically disappointed when I go during Super Doubles, so I convinced myself not to go yesterday. I think other markets have better luck because they have better KMarts…on the Super KMart scale rather than our strip mall KMarts…Also since there are so few KMarts in Louisville all the crazies get out as their only chance to use coupons and take everything before I get out of bed in the morning.

Anyway, I’ve seen a few posts about the deals at KMart this week and I’m rethinking my original decision. Kmart has about 6 current ads all starting and ending at different times (but I think all the ones up now are valid as of Tuesday 6/9). In the ad 6/9 to 7/13 pages 24-27 are dedicated to a Unilever/Kimberly-Clark/SC Johnson deal: Spend $20 get $3 off your next purchase, spend $35 get $7, spend $50 get $14. There are so many possibilities it’s impossible to list, but with double coupons this week – if you were to spend $50 on these products you could count an additional $.28 off per dollar. And I would HOPE all the crazies would have their attention on other items and might leave some for us.

This doesn’t apply to everyone, but since I’ve got a 2 year old with no interest in the potty and another one on the way, I’m going to do the Huggies diapers (Kimberly-Clark product). Huggies are on sale for $9.99 this week.

5 Huggies Jumbo = $49.95
Huggies Wipes $2.99

Total: $52.94

Coupons:
GIVE CASHIER FIRST $5 off $50 coupon
5 - $1.50 off Huggies, or whatever you have ($2 pullups coupons would be even better), doubled = $15 off
$.75 off wipes, doubled - $1.50

Out of pocket: $31.44 (+ tax)

Receipt $ off next order: $14

Submit for Caregiver's Refund @ $.75 per pack = $3.75

Total Cost: $13.69, or $2.74 per pack!
____________________________________________
There is also a $10 off $50 available on an apparel purchase…$50 clothing purchase - $10 coupon - $14 from promotion = $26, not bad!

I sincerely apologize for my diaper rant, and for those of you uninterested, here are some additional items that I am going to quadruple cross my fingers are still available when I visit.

Wags Trip

I haven’t been to Wags quite as much as I wanted to this week out of pure exhaustion, but each trip I have made has been awesome because of the unbelievable overage we’re getting on the meters. On my lunch trip today I bought the following:

Bayer Contour Meter $10
Cheez-It $2.50
Cheez-It $2.50
Nutri-Grain Bars $2.50
Nutri-Grain Bars $2.50

Subtotal: $20

Coupons used:
Up to $30 off Bayer = $10

Register Rewards used:
$2 from Ecotrin
$3 from Reach

Out of Pocket: $5

Register Rewards Received:
$10 for Bayer
$3 for purchasing 4 participating items

Overage: $3!!! And Jacob is going to be so happy about the “b-bars” and crackers!

I planned on doing 2 transactions, one buying the hair dryer, and using that RR to pay for the 2nd transaction, but they were out of dryers – I should have visited Wags earlier in the week! Remember you can still take advantage of the Meter deal without the coupon - Pay $10, get the $10 RR AND submit for the rebate on the box.

$5 Kroger Gift Card! (helping the homeless in Louisville)

Jeff Street has partnered with Kroger in receiving 4% of all donations used on specific gift cards.

Sign up here to receive a gift card credited with $5. On your next Kroger visit, add money to the card - 4% of what you add goes straight to Jeff Street. You're spending the money anyway, why not just add the money to a gift card and use that on your next trip!

I am a big fan of using gift cards instead of debit cards because I consistently use my debit card and throw it in my purse/jacket/pocket and lose in for a couple of days in an effort to get out of the store quickly. I often buy $20 gift cards for CVS or Wags just so I don't misplace my debit card 2-3 (5-6) times a week. Am I the only short-term loser of debit cards?

Wags through 6/6

Remember last week was the last week for for Breeze 2 meter with overage of $5, well, THIS week we're getting $10 overage!!! There are two ways to do this because RRs and rebates are offered (and you may only do one)- Option #1 one would be best because you wouldn't pay any out of pocket, but you're getting the same overage if you do not have the coupon on #2:
#1 - purchase $10 meter, use $30 off coupon (adjusted to $10) pay nothing out of pocket (except maybe tax) and get a $10 RR = $10 overage
#2 - purchase $10 meter, pay for it, get a $10 RR and send in for the $10 rebate = $10 overage (if you use the coupon, Bayer won't give you the rebate too)

Other free:
**Ecotrin $2 get $2 RR, print $2 off = $2 overage
**Cutter Bug spray 2 for $4, use 2 $2 coupons from the paper = free

Other good deals:
**Revlon Ionic styler/dryer $12.99 (if it's not marked have someone do a price check), recieve $10 RR, cost = $2.99! Here's a pic for reference
**there is a TON of clearance out there! The paper products aisle had a lot of little orange tags! If you have time, take a walk up and down the aisles and see what you find!

I'll let you know if I find anything else!
