CVS through 1/24

It's a pretty good week at CVS. Listed below are some great deals this week and then my monster trip yesterday.

**CVS Allergy 5ct $3.79, free after ECB
**Buy $20 in Pepsi/Frito Lay get $10 ECB with $15 coupon rebate
**Excedrin $1.99, click here for $2 off
**monthly deals! Search for them high & low!

___________________________________________

Often when you make purchases at CVS, along with ECBs printing on your receipt, coupons also print. Last week I got some GREAT coupons. Including a $10 off $50 purchase (awesome!) and a $3 off 2 lotions (any lotion!). With the Pepsi deal this week, I planned on losing about $10 in ECBs, so I wanted to make a "$50 purchase" and lose NO MORE than that. I made a plan but had a long list of options in case they didn't have some of the items I wanted. I got a surprise afternoon off work and Jacob was with Grammy, so I went for it!

3 Mountain Dew $9 (eligible for rebate)
1 Dr.Pepper $3 (no rebate, yes ECB)
2 Tostitos Scoops $6 (eligible for rebate)
1 Lay's Classic $3 (eligible for rebate)
CVS Allergy $3.79 (free after ECB-weekly)
Kid's Throat Coolers $4.99 (free after ECB-monthly)
2 American Greeting Cards @ $.99 = $1.98
1 American Greeting Card $2.59
Lay's Dip $2.50 (for my chips!)
2 Excedrin Migraine @ $1.99 = $3.98
2 St.Ives Lotion @ $2.99 = $5.98
2 Sally Henson Nail Polish @ $1.25 = $2.50
3 Welch's Juice @ .99 = $2.97 (filler to get $50)

Total: $52.28

Coupons Used:
$10 off $50 purchase register coupon
2 - $2 off Excedrin = $3.98 (adjusted)
2 - $2 off St.Ives = $4
$3 off 2 lotion register coupon (used for St.Ives)
$2.50 off Sally Henson (this was an adjusted $3 coupon)
Used $27.96 in ECBs

Out of pocket (after taxes & ECBs) = $.84
ECBs received: $21.78 ($10 Pepsi/Frito, $3.79 CVS Allergy, $4.99 Throat Cooler, $3 American Greeting Cards)
Total Cost: $7.02 (ECBs used + OOP - ECBs received) woohoo!
Rebate: Pepsi/Frito $15 in coupons!

You want more coupons, but not whole papers...

Hey! Me too! There were some great coupons in the paper this weekend. Whether you don't currently subscribe to the newspaper, or whether you want more of one coupon in particular, you have lots of options. Read the bottom of this post to see some reputable websites to order additional coupons.

I have one subscription for the Sunday paper, but places like Walgreens and Wal-Mart sell Sunday papers for $.99 (which is actually a little cheaper than having it thrown on my doorstep). Usually that one paper is plenty for our small family's needs, but when coupons come out that I know I'll use and want more of - or that I know I'll make a profit on, I'll order more.

For instance, today's paper has a coupon for $1 off any Quaker Rice Snack Product. Just last week those yummy yummy Quakes were on sale at Meijer 10 for $10. So I COULD have gotten it for free. I went on The Coupon Master website and ordered more! Others coupons I purchased:
**$2 off Gillette Shampoo ("free" at CVS in a few weeks AND also if KMart does Super Doubles again)
**$1 off Kibbles Wholesome Medley (George's usual food)
**$1 off 2 Nutri-Grain (this is from last weeks paper - Jacob eats these every morning for his pre-breakfast)
**$.50 off French mustard (often $1 at Kroger, which would be free when doubled)
**$.35 off Egglands Best (doubled at Kroger this is often cheaper than store brand - I needed to make a $3 purchase so this was my filler)

I also looked for the .50 off Cottonelle, but it seems they are out - Kroger has Cottonelle 4 packs for .99 everyday, so they would be free. Other good fillers are the $2.50 Electrosol coupons from a few weeks ago and $2 Excedrin (I should have added it because they're $1.99 at CVS this week, but I forgot). Good luck!

Hickory Farms - Random Post

Hickory Farms is having a 75% off sale on their website. Which makes for some pretty cheap meat and cheese. For $11.25 you could get:
2.5 lb. Beef Summer Sausage - 12 oz. Beef & Pork Summer Sausage - 12 oz. Turkey Summer Sausage - 16 oz. Cheddar Cheese Ball - 12 oz. Smoked Bacon & Cheddar Blend - 12 oz. Smoked Cheddar Blend- 2 (4 oz.) Jalapeno & Cheddar Wedges - 2 (4 oz.) Smooth & Sharp Wedges- 4 oz. Aged White Cheddar Blend - 10 oz. Sweet Hot Mustard - 4 oz. Mini Melt Away Mints - 2 oz. The Chocolate Collection - 2 (1.3 oz.) Golden Toasted Crackers - Strawberry Bon Bons

Also, use one of these coupon codes 849358, 832664, 833551 and get 15% off of that!
I know this post is a little crazy but meat and cheese get me going! There is a whole lot to choose from so just take a look! There are a lot of smaller items that you can get for less that $10 after shipping.

Pepsi NEXT week at Wags and CVS TOO!!!

Well, it seems that I spoke too soon when commenting that the Pepsi price this week at Walgreens was the best price I've seen at $2 a piece. Well, it was true when I said it, but not now that I've seen NEXT week's ad!

Next week the Pepsi deal is spend $15 get $5 OR spend $20 get $10 register rewards...which when buying 7-12 packs would make them $1.57 a piece! However, if you don't want 7 12-packs laying around the house, consider the following items which will also work when getting you to $20:

Pepsi 2 liter 3/$4
Gatorade 3/$3
Doritos 2/$5
Tostitos 2/$5
Queso Dip 2/$5 mmmm....dip

Additionally there is a mail in rebate for Pepsi/Frito Lay where if you buy a combination of of the above items and send in the rebate you'll get $15 in coupons by mail (which are sure to be GREAT). See the details here

Here is an example of what is needed for the register rewards and rebate:
4 - 12 packs Pepsi $12
1 queso $2.50
2 tostitos $5
Gatorade $1 (added to get to $20 for RR)

Out of Pocket: $20.50
Register Rewards received: $10
Mail in Rebate for $15 in Coupons!
You can't lose...well, unless you love Dr.Pepper and it's not included in this deal...boo

UPDATES FOR CVS: I got a e-mail from CVS (Sign up here to get weekly e-mails) that mentioned the same Pepsi deal as Wags! The only difference is you DO NOT have to purchase everything in one transaction. Wags requires perfection in one transaction in order to get Register Rewards. With CVS you can buy a few here and a few there as long as you complete the deal within the week. Also, I'm sure there are additional items on sale at CVS that are allowed for the rebate. Any questions??? Just let me know!!!

Walgreens monthly & through 1/17

It seems that I have failed to mention the January FAR (Free after Rebate) items at Wags. I have posted randomly when particular rebate items were on sale like the Neti-Pot or Electrosol but didn't post the FAR items. Sorry! I remembered yesterday when I saw yet another Orajel rebate in the Sunday paper - big profit. It goes like this:

Orajel Cold Sore $8.49
Coupon: $1 coupon from 1/11 paper
Out of Pocket: $7.49 + tax
Wags EasySaver rebate + 10% gift card bonus: $9.33
Orajel Rebate from 1/11 paper: $8
Profit: $9.84

Yeah, I'm probably not going to use this product, but I'll sure as heck use the $9.84 to buy something I need/want!

Other FAR items:
Revlon Matte Collection (up to $10)
AutoExpressions Vent Fresh Elite $4.99
___________________________________________

Here are some super weekly deals:
**Windex Wipes, Scrubbing Bubbles & Fantastik are buy one get one free. Use the Mail-In-Rebate for Windex Wipes from yesterday's (1/11) paper and get two items free! Also, use the $.40 coupon for Windex and the $1 coupon for Scrubbing Bubbles or Fantastik, for an additional $1.40 in profit.
**Oust Air Sanitizer is also included in the buy one get one free above, however, there was a BOGO free coupon in the 11/23 paper, use it to get two for free.
**Aquafresh is $2.99. Use the $2 coupon from the EasySaver Catalog and print a $1 coupon to make it free.
**Pepsi is $5 for $15 and you get a $5 Register Reward. I think this is the best price I've seen on 12 packs in a LONG time - $2 each (see retraction of this statement here)! This is going to kill my 'profit,' but it is definitely worth it!

CVS through 1/17

I'll be updating this post throughout the week. The deals don't look too good, but I will be searching. The monthly deals are pretty scarce at this point, except for the SoyJoy bars, they are in random places throughout the store, so just keep looking!

Consumer Product Safety Commission Changes their Rules

Yesterday the CPSC released a statement that reselling children's items will be allowed unless the seller knowingly sells something containing a ridiculous amount of lead (and who would do that). Check out the CPSC website here.

Small manufacturers of toys and clothing and any of your friends on Etsy selling items will still be subject to the CPSIA. It will be hard to change the wording to protect these small businesses and stay at home moms, but it still should be done. I am in no way discounting the affects and severity of lead in childrens clothing, but limiting free enterprise is serious too!

Neti -Pot?

What a weird name and dare I say weird product?

Last week I bought Nasogel for one of the monthly deals at CVS. I showed Jeremy my interesting purchase and he mentioned that he might like a Neti-Pot, which is produced by the same company (and which by the way is eligible for the same $3 Nasogel (Neilmed) rebate). So I get to looking around, and yes, I could get it for $14.99 at CVS and kill the great profit I have going, but I realized that Wags has their generic Neti-Pot for $9.99 this week with a $5 EasySaver Rebate. Anways, I thought this was a great deal for anyone else out there looking to purchase this.

YTD Out of Pocket: $17.74
YTD Saved: $47.86
YTD Actual Spent: $4.59 (we've changed from profit to Actual Spent, but that just means of ALL the purchases I made I've only lost $4.59! The rest of my out of pocket I got back in rebates and register rewards!)

FREE LUNCH for you and your friends

Michael Angelo's Gourmet Foods (i.e. frozen pasta) is offering "free lunch" for you and 5 of your friends through January 31st. View the details on this rebate form. It may be necessary to sign up for the "Family Table Community" which you can do on their website. From the search on their website it seems that Michael Angelo's is available at Meijer, but it could be elsewhere.

P.S. if you're having a get together with more than six people get someone else to buy additional entrees and they can mail in their own rebate.

CPSIA - some changes are in the works

But probably not until after the Feb 10. Click here for the LA Times updated story. At least the local media is starting to do some reports! Click here to see WAVE 3's report from last night.

CPSI Act - Jacob is going naked

We buy Jacob's ENTIRE wardrobe at the church/local consignment sales that are held twice a year. We can not afford, nor is it necessary to buy "new" clothes for him when he grows out of them so fast. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act begins Feb 10 and will make the sale of products for children 12 and under illegal at consignment sales, yard sales, and even Goodwill unless you pay for testing of lead and phthalates.

And don't forget about your friends that make and sell clothes, accessories, blankets, toys, etc to make money from home. They are also subject to this new testing! It is incredible that more stink has not been made of this!

Here are some articles to show that I am not some crazy lady:
LA Times
Baby Cheapskate
Save Handmade

It seems the only thing we can do now is let others know about what's going on. This act will be incredibly difficult to enforce so hopefully it won't be as big a deal! Or maybe Congress will realize that it is WAY to widespread...and before March...I love the Highland Pres Sale!

Walgreens - Year to Date

I'm going to do the same year to date stuff as in the CVS post. The rules are just about the same except it will include Register Rewards & rebates.

Out of Pocket: The actual amount I give the cashier. This is after all coupons, register rewards, and x/xx coupons. The Out of Pocket does not include mail-in rebates, see the Actual Spent is what I have 'lost.'

Saved: What's listed at the bottom of each receipt

Profit/Actual Spent: Register Rewards received PLUS rebates received MINUS Register Rewards spent & MINUS out of pocket spent. My profit tally will go up and down throughout the year depending on whether I've made money or bought that milk I really needed and maybe didn't have the coupons to cover it. Change - Added Actual Spent: you know what, I can't always get it for free, or make a profit, so when I begin to lose my profit. I will change it to YTD Actual Spent to show what I've actually lost - after all rebates, register rewards and coupons.

Year to Date Out of Pocket: $17.04

Year to Date Profit: $0.61

CVS Year to Date

Two days into 2009 and with a lot of free and profitable purchases already under my belt, I've decided to keep a running tally of my out of pocket, amount of money saved and profit. Here is how the math will work...

Out of Pocket: The actual amount I give the cashier. This is after all coupons, ECBs and x/xx coupons.

Saved: What's listed at the bottom of each receipt

Profit: ECBs received MINUS ECBs spent & MINUS out of pocket spent. My profit tally will go up and down throughout the year depending on whether I've made money or bought that fabric softener I really needed and maybe didn't have the coupons to cover it.

Year to Date Out of Pocket: $0.47
Year to Date Saved: $53.07
Year to Date Profit: $12.54

CVS - Let's make some money this month

The monthly deals for January are SUPER! There are a lot of printable coupons that go along with the deals, so if you are a newspaper slacker, I've got some great coupons for you!

Keep checking back to this post as I update for sales!

**Throat Coolers $4.99, free after ECB. Sign up on their website for a buy one get one free coupon (sent to your e-mail. Buy 2 and get get $4.99 profit.
**Nasogel is $7.99, free after ECB. Print this $2 coupon for $2 profit. There is also mail-in-rebate on the inside of some of these. Buy up to three and get $3 each back = profit of $15 for 3 purchases
**NutriTrim Gum $3.99, free after ECB
**Listerine Smart Rinse $3.99, receive $3 ECB. Download this $1 coupon to make it free.
**SoyJoy boxed bars $6, free after ECB

I believe the limits on the items above is 5, so your profit could be about $25 if you bought 5 of each. Add in the $3 off $15 and you've got quite a bit more profit! You have until January 31 to complete these deals!
